“You & I Are One” Shirts

You & I are one in community

You & I are one in siblinghood (angel babies)

You & I are one in always being together

You & I are one in being loss parents

You & I are one in family

You & I are one in love

Not to say our stories are the same, but they are one.

We stand united, together being one,

with deep love of our forever babies.

We are one in four: miscarriage

We are one in fifty-three: TFMR

We are one in one hundred: recurrent pregnancy

We are one in one hundred and sixty: stillbirth

We are one in six: infertility

We are one in infinity: when it happens to us

 We are one with loss, before or after pregnancy loss

We are one in understanding, empathy and love

We are not one of the same, but together we are one

Ich und Du bin eins means, “You & I are one”

Ich und Du bin eins is a sentiment my grandpa always said to my mom in German. I still need to get the proper translation, but the meaning stays the same to me. My mom carrys this on with her forever and I hope to do the same with my kids. It’s our little love language, how things pass on and can be lost in translation but still become the fabric of our family. The fabric will fade, but the meaning remains & needs to be shared.

I wish all my babies were here, but I must remember that they are here because we are and always will be one.

You & I are one is a symbol of love for all of us, no matter our losses.

Wearing this shirt is how I can honour, share, and acknowledge my babies, even though I realize I already do this every day. However, this is a small way that I can carry their legacy and honour them, while bringing awareness on the bigness of their life and love and what they meant to us. We wear this unique saying, “You & I Are One,” to raise awareness for pregnancy loss and to show support and acceptance of those who have or know some one who has lost a baby. This is a way my family can all be proud, and though we don’t ever need to show our love, it’s how we can show in a little way their impact.

And I put the logo on the right side, because I want to leave space on the left for our babies . . . in our hearts.

It’s so unfortunate that it’s always the ones who go through loss supporting these causes & for that reason I wish I could provide this shirt for free to the loss community, but please know if you wish to purchase a shirt, that the money raised goes directly to fund comfort boxes for loss parents. You are helping others in that find themselves in this same space.
